Reusable Fiber Optic
Restoration Kit
Working with
major telephone companies to develop a protocol and teach
technicians a standard for fiber optic restoration, Lite saw the
need for an affordable, user-friendly restoration kit – a kit
technicians could use with confidence whether they had a lot of
experience with fiber or very little. |

Purpose
The purpose
of Lite’s Fiber Optic Restoration Kit is to get the damaged cable
back on line as quickly as possible, until it is
convenient/possible for qualified in-house technicians or a
contractor to make a permanent splice. For example, using this kit
it is possible to repair a 24-fiber cable (8 fibers with traffic
on them) in less than 45 minutes. |

Fiber
Optic Restoration Kit
Simple in design, the kit has
2 temporary closures that allow the technician to prep out about
36 inches of cable (instead of the standard 12 feet) and perform
either a mechanical or fusion splice. The closure is then
sealed. It can remain in the ground for long periods because it
is water tight and self-contained. (Kit seen at right with small
carrying case, two closures and optional fiber count doublers) |
